Personal internal motivation can force us to perform everyday tasks that we find most difficult, such as working, studying, or playing sports. It can also affect our thoughts and make them strong enough to excite us and fill us with passion when we follow our goals.
It is assumed that our mind processes an average of 60,000 thoughts a day. This is about 40 thoughts per minute. We think and react mentally to the circumstances or moments we go through, depending on a variety of emotional options. Many of these thoughts go unnoticed, others try to stop when they try to escape. Others, even when we don’t realize it, become part of our reality.
We create opinions about ourselves and the environment from an early age. An opinion is defined as an idea, judgment, or concept that a person has or creates about something or someone. We must respect the opinions of people because different opinions indicate the diversity of the environment. This, however, does not mean that every opinion is correct!
Objectively, you can’t be right in every one of the 60,000 thoughts we mentioned earlier. These are just personal judgments, without any guarantees of their validity. However, many of these thoughts and opinions help us think and inspire. This is partly our internal motivation. However, others sabotage our well-being and actually discourage us.
Internal motivation and motivating factors. However, for each of these discouraging factors, there are others that motivate us, stimulate us, and make us feel that we are capable of doing something. How can we create an impulse that will positively affect our mood? Or make our “motivating factors” outweigh? How can we be encouraged without the need for an external vote?
Here are 7 ways to encourage yourself to create the motivation you need for your life’s challenges and goals.
1. Internal dialogue.
If we don’t want to take any thought for the truth, we must create a healthy internal dialogue. We must distinguish which thoughts will hinder us and which will help us achieve our goals. This is a difficult start.
One way is to create an imaginary character, call it up, and start a dialogue with it. Sometimes you will have to set limits for it, sometimes you will have to calm it down. In the end, however, you will be able to create a “friendship” that will last a lifetime.
2. Be aware of your mood.
We live with many of our moods, some of the more productive and constructive than others. Self-compassion will help you cope with difficult times, knowing that when you decide something, you will have ways to change it all. Practice exercises that connect your mind and body, such as yoga or mindfulness.
3. Intrinsic motivation.
Go from responsibilities to solutions. How many of your thoughts start with ” I must …”? It’s time to make a decision and change it to ” I will …”. If you make a list of thoughts “I need …”, you will see that many of them come from a routine that you have created, from habits that you have inherited, or from rules that are not really needed in your daily life. How many of your thoughts “I need …” is it really your personal choice?
4. Work on your personal values.
Personal values are deep beliefs that define your lifestyle and determine your behavior. When they prompt you to action, they are very powerful. For each “discouraging factor” there is a personal value that balances your life and gives you strength.
5. Create a positive attitude toward learning.
If you need internal motivation, then obsessing about perfection won’t help in the end. If you are positive about learning, you will see errors as part of the process. You learn and adapt. The moment you accept your imperfection, you take the first step toward perfection.
6. Work towards excellence.
When you strive for perfection, you will find satisfaction in achieving what you want, without the need for comparison. You don’t need to compete with anyone, because perfection helps you improve day by day.
7. Trust yourself and believe in your capabilities.
Start trusting yourself, step by step. Just because you tried something in the past and didn’t achieve it doesn’t mean you can’t achieve it now. Have faith and know that you are doing everything in the best way that you know all the time. Believe in yourself.
Remember that internal motivation comes from within, based on the strengths and advantages that we all have. Don’t give up the first time, or the second, or the third. At every step, prove to yourself that you can improve.
Don’t underestimate yourself. You will always make mistakes, but you must make sure that you have turned them into learning tools. As long as you have the desire to turn them into strengths, you will never let them down.
